Climate Change, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), Climate Resilience
Disasters are inevitable but can be managed smartly through proper planning and execution. The key concern of disaster management (DM) revolves around the extent of its mainstreaming in departmental plans and level of execution at ground level. On the other hand, climate change component, both adaptation and mitigation, have been observed as a key area of addition in DM plan of the district as well as departments.
GEAG, in association with National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and Institute for Social and Environmental Transition-International (ISET) and with the support of Climate & Development Knowledge Network (CDKN), implemented the second phase of CCA/DRR integration programme in Puri (Odisha) and Almora (Uttarakhand) districts.
The project facilitated the process of revision of DDMP in the context of different hazards and emerging challenges of climate change. Practical and effective ways were demonstrated to mainstream integration of DRR-CCA especially in a multi-hazard context.
